December in-service training Materials
Thursday December 12, 2013WHO ARE YOU?
For this reflection activity I asked everyone to create something that symbolizes who they are, whether it be an illustration, a collage, or just a few written words. Initially this activity was a way for Kendra to get the know the team better, but it turned into a beautiful work of art you see here! Energizer: Balloon Pop!
This is a high energy and exciting game! Each person had to tie a balloon to their ankle. The balloons all had a question related to service inside of them. The goal is to pop balloons of others, and keep yours protected. If someone popped your balloon, you had to answer the question inside of it. Everyone answered the question of the winner (the last balloon popped). Josh's Presentation on Equity:

Friday December 13, 2013Energizer: Finish the Lyrics!
A fun and quick game to test the music knowledge of the group. I separated the team into two groups and handed out scrambled up lyrics to a song. The first team to put the two song lyrics together won the prizes! The needs and haves assessment! For the Needs and Haves Assessment, I had everyone write down one resource/skill they needed on each of the red sticky sheets and one resource/skill they have on green sticky sheets. After the VISTA members sorted each of the sticky notes into different categories, I invited people to come up and share what they have to offer those who needed something (professional development resources, fundraising skills, mentoring skills, etc.). This activity soon turned into an all-share activity, which is great! Please continue your conversations!!
There is an open resource file where you all can share files with one another! It can be found here! Needs Assessment Haves Assessment: Resources from the Group Theater of the oppressed!Hannah Forman facilitated an outstanding session that engaged the whole group through small skits. It, in my opinion, is relatable to many of our service projects because it composes topics of social justice and equity. Hopefully you all can use this again at some point during your service or after AmeriCorps!
